1st : Buddhist monks can only beg for food (strictly vegetarian and before noon when they are supposed to be back in their temple). They are not supposed to beg for money, even if they give you talismans for your donation. Those are FAKES.

As for ignoring you when you said sorry, they probably dun understand English (syndicates employ Burmese or other poverty-stricken Indochinese foreigners to beg). Just shake your head, go back to doing whatever you are doing, ignore their presence, and said beggar will be gone in 5 mins(time is money).

2nd: I usually do the balancing act on the train when there aren’t many passengers and little chance of knocking someone, in case I lose my balance.
